SAL is the prom on the Altix and Prism systems To verify the PROM version running on your system, boot into the EFI shell and run the following command: fs0:\> flash -R Propacks? Whats that? Notes from Propack4 SP 4 Release notes
Note the following prerequisites for using SGI ProPack 4 SP4 on SGI Altix 3xx/3xxx and SGI Prism systems: - requires SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 Service Pack 4 - PROM 4.90 (ships with SGI ProPack 4 SP4) or later version recommended PROM 4.90 should not be used with older SLES9 SP1 kernels. If you plan to switch between SLES9 SP1 and SLES9 SP4 kernels, you should not upgrade your PROM beyond 4.04. For customers upgrading to SGI ProPack 4 SP4 from any SGI ProPack 3 service pack, systems must be running at least PROM 4.04 before attempting to install SLES9 SP4 or SGI ProPack 4 SP4. If you attempt to install SLES9 SP4 and/or SGI ProPack 4 SP4 before updating your PROM to at least PROM version 4.04, the kernel will complain that the PROM version is too old and YOUR SYSTEM WILL NOT BOOT. To verify the PROM version running on your system, boot into the EFI shell and run the following command:
Prism Imagesync pinout IS1_1|IS1_7|IS1_3|IS1_4|IS1_5|IS2_1|IS2_7|IS2_3|IS2_4|IS2_5| R3 | R4 | R5 | IS1_6|IS1_2|IS1_8|IS1_9| NC |IS2_6|IS2_2|IS2_8|IS2_9| R2 | R7 | R9 | NC | 06-18-2025 -- Prism Linux # vizserver Today I worked on my prism and had wanted to get vizserver working on both the sles9 and sgi advanced linux 3, I had licensing issues with sles9 where I needed to put the license in /etc/flexlm/ for some reson. I was able to get that installed and it worked. And for sgi linux I had issues with VNC server and viz not working due to not being able to talk over the network. I was able to fix this issue with clearing the iptables with "iptables -F" I had gotten this info from a forum post about a vnc error "no connection 111" or whatever. Hope this helps future joshua. Next project is to get quicktransit and performer fully working and possibly get some irix programs running on the piece of junk. sgi-performer-demos-3.2.4-sgi404r1 SGIPRISM:~ # rpm -qf /usr/X11R6/bin/pfCity sgi-performer-demos-3.2.4-sgi404r1 Opsie, sudo rpm -Uvh --replacepkgs irix
